Overview
As part of the visual team, we are responsible for everything the congregation sees on the screen. This includes taking responsibility of the hardware.
Any audio played through the computer is our responsibility too. So background music before and after the service is our responsibility.
Summary of what the visual team does

- Prepare the service in TheOpenPresenter: songs, announcements, videos, anything the preacher sends.
- Run the service live: the right thing on screen at the right moment, and a blank screen when nothing should be there.
- Play the music that comes off the computer: background music before and after, and the audio in any video.
- Fix it when it breaks, quietly, while the service carries on.
We don’t choose the songs, write the announcements or run the sound desk. We’re handed the content and we get it on screen well.
Principles
Section titled “Principles”We serve the congregation first and foremost. Our job is to help people worship without technology getting in the way.
The best visuals are the ones nobody notices. We’re not here to be impressive.
Reliability beats brilliance. The volunteer who is always there, on time, doing the simple thing well is worth more than the clever one who is occasionally spectacular.
We look after each other. Nobody serves every week. If you’re struggling, say so and we’ll cover you.
The training pathway

Most people should aim to reach Level 2.
